Multicultural Greek Council

In 2004, the first Multicultural Greek Council was founded at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With the rise in interest of the Multicultural Greek system, there was a need for a Council that would serve these interest groups.

The mission of the Multicultural Greek Council shall be to foster a unified multicultural community, to promote scholarship, service, respect, camaraderie and cultural awareness, while creating an inclusive and supportive network for future growth and development.

We, the members of Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Incorporated, aware of the prejudices and obstacles facing the minority women of our communities, dedicate ourselves to improving these conditions and to working towards the betterment of all women. Sigma Lambda Beta (ΣΛΒ), founded on April 4, 1986 at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, based upon four pillars: Brotherhood, Scholarship, Cultural Awareness, and Community Service. Baltazar Mendoza-Madrigal, a member of Phi Beta Sigma, expanded the possibility of a Latino-based organization with multicultural membership that would promote a positive image of the Latino Community at the University of Iowa and other universities located throughout the nation by scholastic achievements, eternal Brotherhood, the dissemination of our unique and rich culture, and service to our community.

The Victor Correa CPR Awareness Day was created in honor of Sigma Lambda Beta brother Victor "Ziggy" Correa Ortiz who passed away during a drowning accident where none of the bystanders knew how to administer CPR. The fraternity encourages its members to host CPR training and awareness events. Locally, the Delta Delta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta partners with Centro Hispano Dane County.
